Beetham, Saint Michael & All Angels
An 1854 Forster & Andrews organ,
in the Parish Church of Beetham, in Cumbria. It was rebuilt in 1876
by the same builders and restored by David Wells Organ Builders in
1995.
In 2008 GO-Organ Builders carried out restorative work to damaged pipes, and rectified damage to the pedal chest caused by excess heat.
This Grade I listed church was built at some point during the 12th century, and has been extended since this time, with the addition of a chapel, as well as other additions and extensions to the original building. The church was restored between 1873-74 and a new south porch was added. During this restoration Saxon coins from the reign of Edward the Confessor were discovered. Only two of the original Medieval stained glass windows survive, the rest having been destroyed by Cromwell's soldiers in 1647.
